Tasting - Appollonio Terragnolo Salento Primitivo

Terragnolo Salento Primitivo
Name: Appollonio Terragnolo
Variety: 100% Primitivo
Region: Salento
Country: Italy
Year: 2007
Price: $22.99

Winery review: Apollonio’s top effort. This opaque purple-colored wine offers up abundant quantities of jammy black cherry and blackberry fruit, truffles, tar, and spice. Full-bodied and luxuriously fruity, with good glycerin, purity, and overall balance, with no hard edges. Rated 92 Points. - Lisa's Liquor Barn

My review: This wine's bouquet was of fig and cherry with a slight peppery nose. The wine itself was true to nose with hints of black pepper, black cuurant, and a slight acid that was cut with homemade cheese ravioli and meat marinara. The wine was sweeter but good with accentuated pepper, but smoky and oaked on the finish.
